GOD IS OXYGEN
Life is an exciting, and at times, scary roller coaster of defining moments. Some moments take us days, if not years, to recognize and others, we are blessed to intimately know upon impact. Some moments we meet with resistance and others we welcome like oxygen. For me, a defining moment welcomed like oxygen, was the day my husband led me to Crossover Church where I found forgiveness and began a relationship with God.
Journey to Faith
Have you ever wondered how some people can be so indebted to their relationship with Christ silently questioning why and how their every move is connected to someone they’ve never seen? Or have you ever been at a church and heard someone cry out so loudly in an unknown language while another person backflipped down the aisle? Okay, maybe it’s just me who has experienced the backflipping, but I’m sure you can relate to my thinking “does it really take all of that to show God your love for Him?” As a pastor’s kid (P.K.) who grew up in a variety of church environments, those were my thoughts.
CHOSEN OUT OF LOVE……. NOT BY CHOICE
My name is Agatha Caballero and I am an Ambassador for God. I have been chosen, by no choice of mine, to represent the beauty that only God can create. Have you ever wondered, “why me”? Yes, I have, till I met who “ME” really is. I was told in a whispered voice, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25).
I GAVE IT ALL UP
Sometimes God asks us to dive headfirst off a cliff. He asks us to take a giant leap of faith. Many of us are more than willing to take a leap of faith. But would you be willing if you didn’t know whether or not God had tied a bungee cord around your feet?
MIRACLES IN STRANGE PLACES
This morning during our usual rush to get out the door we suddenly realized our daughter’s shoes were missing. We searched the shoe rack, behind the pillows on the couch, under toys, chairs, and dressers, on bookshelves and countertops. We looked everywhere! Her shoes had simply disappeared in what seemed “out of thin air.” How could this be? We knew they had to be in the house somewhere because they were on her feet when we returned home the previous evening. If you have children or are familiar with two year olds, then you know they can be pretty creative when it comes to hiding things…
STRONG, COURAGEOUS AND NEVER INTIMIDATED
Sometimes you use all your strength to muster every ounce of self-respect and courage you have within and you walk out within the first five minutes of a date…
LIKE A JAR OF RIVER WATER
I have to admit, most of the time, I am the one to blame. I’m the one who gets in the way of what God has for me and what He wants for me. Sometimes, I feel like I can’t help it. I’m a thinker. A planner. I like schedules and I like structure. I like to figure things out. I like to make sense of things. And when they don’t, after all the work I put into planning my life, well, I’m left defeated and confused. What went wrong? What did I do wrong?
BAD DECISION DAMAGE CONTROL
Have you ever made a bad decision and then wonder, “alright, now what?”
I think we all have. I think every one of us has, at some point or another, made a choice that we knew was the wrong choice and then froze in the face of the consequence, not knowing where to turn or how to correct it.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS MAKE US
Memorable moments and unique experiences – those are the things that define us. I never would have imagined one of my defining moments would take place at a child’s funeral, but it did. Tragedy is the teacher that we hope never shows up for class. But when it does, we learn lessons never forgotten.
OH LORD, YOU NEVER LEFT ME ALONE
Sometimes the thing that births us into who we are happens in one moment. Sometimes it is a combination of lots of little moments streaming into a big bang type event that feels like it seals the destiny of who we are going to be.
Here is the thing though, when you’re a child of God, He is the one who makes the call on who you get to be, if you choose to let him.
SURVIVING UNCERTAINTY TAKES FLEXIBILITY
Everyday the updates change. Yesterday we were on pause waiting to see if the Mayor was going to issue a Stay At Home order (…holding breath…). By the evening the Governor rejected it and the City officials said there is no need. (Ok…. Release your breath…breathe)
This morning’s Headline News read, “Mayor is fighting for the Stay At Home order again!”
No wait, Hold your breath again…
TO THIS DAY
I know you’ve probably heard the old adage, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” As a matter of fact, you may have said it as a child, but then you grew up to find out that you have been deceiving yourself. Words do hurt. A lot. And whoever made that up, well, they didn’t know what they were talking about, to put it mildly…
