Paid in Full

by Shannon Nelson

We often find ourselves wrestling with uncertainty, trying to figure things out. I say this from experience, not just from hearing about it; I’ve tried to figure it out too. But the truth is, God has already worked it all out.

For several years, I spoke in faith, declaring that my student loans would decrease or be paid off. Eventually, I began to declare with conviction that they would be completely eliminated, inspired by the promises made during our current President’s campaign.

Let me tell you a story...

Last year, I received an email stating that I was eligible to have my loans discharged. A few months later, I received another letter saying to disregard the first email. Yet, I still held onto the belief that my student loans would be paid off.
A couple of months ago, I received another email telling me that part or all of my loans would be discharged. I boldly declared, "All will be discharged." A few weeks ago, I decided this would be the month to check on my loans. I logged into my account, and it displayed a $0 balance. Wanting to confirm, I called and spoke to a representative. He kindly confirmed that the debt was cleared!

I was ecstatic! It happened—God did it through the program from our president. But here’s the kicker... As I researched further, I learned that it didn’t occur in recent months—it happened last year. In fact, it happened a year ago! One of the credit reports was updated in June 2023 (June was when I received the first email stating I was eligible).

While I was declaring that the debt would be paid, I was speaking in future tense. But God had already ensured my debt was paid.

Let me put it another way: We keep waiting, anticipating, and hoping that God will provide. But He has already provided. Our debts (not just financially but in every area of our lives) have been paid at the Cross. We need to walk confidently every day, knowing that our debts have been paid in full, our sins have been forgiven, and the way has been provided.

Sis, you are the daughter of the King—fix your crown. Hold your head high and know that your King has already made the way. Now, be good to yourself and to someone else.

Bye, girl, bye.
Shannon
