You Are Qualified

By Tillia Britt

Let’s Pray

Lord, I invite You into this moment. As I share my heart, let these words reach those who need them. I pray that You would open hearts, bring peace, and remind every listener and reader that they are already qualified in Your eyes. Help us all to step into the purpose You’ve designed for us with boldness and confidence. Thank You for Your grace and Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Have you ever felt like you're not enough?

Maybe you've tried to change who you are to meet the expectations of others. I’ve definitely been there. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that we need to fit into a mold or measure up to certain standards. But here’s something that has changed everything for me: You are already qualified.

God has already equipped you with everything you need. You don’t have to change or strive to become someone you’re not. You’ve been qualified from the moment you were created. Isn’t that freeing to think about?

I remember a season in my life when it felt like everything around me was falling apart. There were health struggles, the loss of family and my job, and multiple unexpected life changes that left me feeling completely out of control. In those moments, I began to doubt myself. I questioned who I was and whether I could handle everything life had thrown at me. I tried to be something I wasn’t—thinking that if I just changed this or that about myself, I would be enough.

But in the middle of all that, I realized something so important: God had already qualified me. And He’s done the same for you.

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” When I read this, it reminds me that even before we were born, God had already designed us for a purpose. He’s given us the abilities we need to walk in that purpose, and nothing we do will change that. You don’t need to prove yourself. You’re already enough.

Another verse that comforted me during this time was Philippians 4:13 (NIV): “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This truth became my anchor. I was never meant to carry the weight of life alone. God was with me, giving me the strength to move forward—even when I didn’t feel like I could.

Here’s the thing: The world often tells us that we have to change who we are to fit in, to be accepted, or to be valuable. But God says something different.

1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

You are chosen. You are His. Your worth doesn’t come from others’ opinions but from God’s love for you.

When I started to embrace this truth, everything changed. I stopped trying to hide the things about myself that I thought were flaws. My passion, my ability to speak, my desire to help others—all of these were gifts from God. And they weren’t weaknesses; they were part of how God had made me to fulfill my purpose.

I want you to hear this today: You don’t need to change who you are to be loved by God. You don’t need to apologize for the gifts and passions He’s given you.

Psalm 139:14 (NIV) says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” God created you exactly as you are, and He’s given you everything you need to step into the purpose He’s called you to.

Now, I know it’s not always easy to believe this truth. Sometimes, we get caught up in what others think or in our own self-doubt. But that’s where we have to make a choice: Will we believe what the world says about us, or will we believe what God says about us?

Romans 8:37 (NIV) says, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

You are more than enough. You are more than capable. And no matter what life throws your way, God is with you, strengthening you every step of the way.

So today, I want to encourage you to embrace who you are.

Embrace the gifts, the talents, and the passions that God has given you. Don’t let the world tell you that you need to be someone else. You are already qualified for everything God has called you to do.

Reflective Questions:

  • What parts of yourself have you tried to change in order to fit someone else’s expectations?

  • How do you feel when you think about being “qualified” in God’s eyes? Is that freeing for you?

  • What gifts or passions has God given you that you may have been hiding or doubting?

  • What would it look like for you to walk confidently in who God created you to be, without needing to prove yourself?

A Declaration Over Your Life:

Today, I declare that I am qualified—not because of what I’ve done, but because of who God says I am. I will embrace my unique gifts, trust in God’s plan for my life, and walk confidently in the purpose He’s given me. I will not apologize for who I am, but I will step boldly into the calling God has placed on my life. I am more than enough, just as I am.
