Beauty Is Her Name
By Brandy Grillo
Hello Beautiful. Yes, YOU. Don’t get distracted and not stop to really READ. You are on Chosen Pieces for a reason my dear… Pssst God knew and yep, he planned it. So just listen with your minds, see through your hearts and sing with your spirits. LET’S GO!!!!!
I am writing this for you. All of you. The things you love most about yourself and the things you wish you could change. I’ m writing to tell you that you are all that you need to be and not what the world tells you, you should be. Embrace yourself at this moment. Breathe at this moment. Be free at this moment. Relax. Celebrate yourself at this moment. Pray at this moment to receive what God gave me to deliver.
I’ve been thinking a lot. As per usual. I have been able to rest in my thoughts and as always it opens my eyes. This time it opened my eyes to something I feel is misused from time to time. I feel that we don’t feel as good as we should about this topic. I feel when we do feel good it can be shown in not such pretty ways. So, what am I talking about?
BEAUTY.
Yep, I believe this is going to be a good topic for us. So, let’s dive into this whole beauty. I suggest you get rid of the phone... yes, the phone. I know it’s kinda hard for some to let go of but all those calls, notifications, messages, and DM’s will be waiting for your return. It’s truly ok to take a moment to get into your beauty, my dear. Now take off any makeup you are wearing, get into some comfy clothes, let down your hair, play some music if you like, just breathe, and let’s just be nothing more than who we are.
Beauty is everywhere. It is in what we see, it is in what we hear, and can even be in words spoken or written. Music is beautiful it can make us dance away our cares by listening to a euphonious voice while the instruments play.
Beauty can be found in going on a vacation to explore new sights and seeing the wonderful creation of the islands, mountains, or a big city. It’s the beauty you attempt to capture on your phone but it is just not the same when you see the picture and then you see what you are looking at. “Pictures don’t do it justice” I believe is where that phrase came from.
People of all walks of life have beauty attached to them from the way they walk or speak to how they dress, even to the tasty food they cook. C’mon, we all have done it! You know that plate of food that is worth taking a picture of to capture the love, the presentation, the excitement... in other words the BEAUTY.
Beauty can be found in listening to a speech given by someone that just hits your soul or reading a good book that you become lost in imagination and you don’t want to come back down to reality just quite yet… just one more chapter, please.
Gazing up into the sky on a sunny day seeing the clouds passing by with the weather just right saying what a beautiful day. At night, when the world’s light of the sun goes down and the light of the moon comes out with glistening stars of the midnight sky, oh, what a beautiful night. My favorite beauty is when it rains. Just calms my soul.
Beauty has made talent come alive. Beauty has brought art out of people’s minds. Beauty has designed two beautiful souls to ignite. Beauty has new eyes all the time. Beauty is admirable. Beauty is in the creation of life.
Let’s not forget one beauty that can become madness within us “Queenz.” We have physical beauty. Quick question… have you ever just sat and thought about how wonderful and uniquely created we all are? From different shades of color to all the different sizes and shapes. Not one of us is exactly the same. “UMMM, NO! Why would I do that?” Now have you ever thought about why your nose is so big? Why your butt isn’t bigger (I’ve thought this)? Why your hair is not straight? Why do your hips look like that in this? Question what is on your face (sigh)? Wonder where are your six-pack abs? Why is my skin this dark or my skin this light? Or, why don’t I have lips like Angelina Jolie (yes, I have thought this too). I could keep going. I think you are getting the point. Mostly, our thoughts if we really tracked them are not headed in the direction of sunshine my dear. They are more headed into the dark gloomy clouds filled with rain. Here we go into picking and comparing instead of being content and accepting.
Darling, if there is so much beauty in and around us, what causes us then, to not see that we exist because we are pieces in the beautiful puzzle of God’s masterpiece. We are not just any pieces. We are CHOSEN pieces. You. Me. Your mother. Your sister. Your girlfriends and even Mary Joe down the street. All of us are chosen to play our part in shining our light, glowing in delight, and walking in the boldness of our unique beauty.
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. Living in this fallen world that we live in sometimes it can be easier to not see it and walk around blind than to fiercely and boldly open our eyes and embrace it.
When we don’t see something, we don’t have to recognize it. We won’t have to define it and we won’t have to change it. Imagine having a chance to see the wonderful fields of lilies blooming in the spring, arriving and placing a blindfold on to walk through the field in darkness. That’s exactly what we do when we look at ourselves in the mirror and can only see what is wrong instead of embracing the right.
How often do we believe beauty is only skin deep? How often do you feel beautiful until you see another woman who strikes you as gorgeous? Another look at yourself and with that quickness, you stopped your beauty from being? How much money has been spent on makeup to hide the acne, the scars, the freckles, or wrinkles? How much time was spent applying the makeup that at end of the day or night gets rinsed off and falls down into the drain? How many women use the money to alter their looks just to redefine their beauty again by some standard?
Trust me, I’m all for getting dolled up. Getting dolled up is just extra beauty points. There is a time and place for this. On my regular and your regular, we should still be feeling A1 in our skin. We should still find more uniqueness than flaws. So, my reasoning for this blog is to hit the insecurities of the darlings that don’t see any beauty in themselves.
Beauty is not in our physical appearance. It is in what God’s word calls an imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. As 1 Peter 3:3 continues to read…
“Don’t let your beauty consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and wearing fine jewelry or fine clothes, but rather what is inside the heart.”
Our hearts are where our true treasure lies. Since we are a spirit that has a soul that lives in body, it is our truth that when we are gentle and quiet on the inside this is where we find our true beauty in ourselves and all things around us.
How do we implement this into our lives?
Let’s stick to the real standard which is God’s Word.
Let’s start by being more kind to ourselves.
More gentle in how we speak to ourselves.
Stop looking around and look within.
Guard your heart
Learn to accept you for you
Be brave in your process
We are God’s creation. Let’s be embraced by his artwork. We are Masterpieces by the best artist ever!!!!
Let us embrace this. Let us define ourselves from within first then our outside will match the twinkle in our eyes to the smile that none could resist. Stay in confidence. Walk boldly in your chosen beauty. For without your piece to the puzzle we fall short of completion. Missing pieces do more than complete the puzzle they fill in an empty space.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched they must be felt with the heart. - Helen Keller.
